Kuopio Adventist Church was founded in 1931. In 2021, our church will be 90 years old.
Our congregation belongs to the Finnish Adventist Church and is a part of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church founded in 1863. The name of our worldwide church, "the Seventh-day Adventist Church," consists of two points of faith that are important to us as a church. The word "advent" (lat. Adventus, arrival) means the second coming of Christ, the word "seventh day" refers to the seventh day of the biblical week, the Sabbath (Hepr. Sabbath, the day of rest). The Adventist Church worldwide has nearly 90,000 congregations in more than 200 states. There are more than 21 million baptized members and the church operates in nearly 900 different languages. There are 59 Adventist congregations in Finland, of which 55 are Finnish-speaking and 4 Swedish-speaking local congregations, and in addition to these, 6 Finnish-speaking and 3 Swedish-speaking groups. The Adventist Church of Finland has about 4,500 baptized members. Jesus Christ has saved us to live a holistic, balanced life in the Holy Spirit. He enables us to spread the eternal gospel to the world. By so doing, we seek to help people to find new meaning in their lives through understanding and accepting the new opportunities Jesus' reconciliation provides us, now and in the future. |
